Understanding the causes and fixes for Outlook email not working

Possible reasons for the 'Outlook Not Opening' problem

Several factors might cause Outlook to open improperly or not at all. The following are some of the most prevalent culprits for the issue of Outlook not working

 

·         You haven't applied the most recent updates changes.

·         Another process is using outlook or external data, such as photos in an email message, which is being loaded by Outlook.

·         Your mailboxes are too big 

·         The AppData folder location must be moved to a new network location.

·         Your Office programs must be repaired.

 

 

Commonly used techniques to fix Outlook Not Responding

 

You can implement the below techniques to resolve the "Outlook not working" issue.

 

1. Shut down Outlook:

When Outlook becomes unresponsive and refuses to work, you must utilize the Task Manager to shut it down. To use Task Manager to force Outlook to close, follow the instructions below.

 

      i.        Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at the same moment to bring up the Task Manager.

     ii.        Select Microsoft Outlook, followed by right-clicking Outlook.

    iii.        Then, choose End task to force-quit Microsoft Outlook.

 

2. Turn off any faulty add-ins:

 

"COM Add-ins" are modules that extend the functionality of Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook.

 

Using Outlook's Add-in Management Interface, disable faulty add-ins.

 

      i.        Open Outlook and search for "Com" in the search box in the upper right corner, then click on "COM Add-ins."

     ii.        Uncheck any broken or unnecessary add-ins you want to deactivate, then select "OK" and re-launch Outlook.

 

 

Using the Windows Control Panel, disable any faulty add-ins

 

Add-ins may be simply deleted from Windows Control Panel by utilizing the Uninstall Program function.

 

      i.        Shut off Outlook

     ii.        Launch Control Panel by typing Control Panel into the Windows search box.

    iii.        Select Uninstall Programs from the Programs and Features menu.

   iv.        Locate the malfunctioning Add-name, in's pick it, and remove it.

 

 

3. Make a Microsoft Outlook update

 

If you notice that Outlook is not automatically updating, follow the steps below to reactivate the Auto-update function.

 

      i.        Select Office Account from the File tab.

     ii.        Go to "Update Options," and then "Enable Updates." Select Yes when asked to enable Outlook to make modifications to your machine.

 

4. In Safe Mode, open Outlook

 

All settings are reset to Outlook default settings when Outlook is launched in safe mode, allowing for faster mistake identification and correction.

 

Press the CTRL key and then hit your Outlook icon to launch Outlook in safe mode.

 

5. Outlook Programs should be repaired

 

If Outlook is still not operating properly after restarting it, you may try fixing the application and then restart your computer.

 

      i.        Go to the Control Panel and choose Programs.

     ii.        Select Programs and Features from the drop-down menu.

    iii.        If Outlook is a Microsoft Office application, check for different Microsoft Office versions, and if it was installed separately. Identify the version name. After that, choose it and click Change.

   iv.        Choose Repair > Continue and then follow the on-screen instructions
